I just want to take a moment to say Happy New Year! I am having such writers block and have no idea what I want or need to tell you. So I will apologize right now for that!
Taking
time to reflect on last year, I am so thankful that I have friends like you. I
really am so blessed. Last year was just such a great year at our campuses but
right now I am looking forward to the next semester and even into next year.
January is always such a busy month as we prepare for the
second semester of the school year. We
just got back from our annual winter staff retreat. 24 of us (Reese got sick so Brianna and Tyler
couldn't go) went down to the Texas Hill country for a time of worship, bonding
with each other, and some planning. For
some of our discussion time we read a book by Eugene Peterson called the
"Contemplative Pastor" which was personally challenging to me. For me, the book was such a good reminder for
me to slow down, pray for people, and really show them God rather than just
giving advice or fixing problems. As I
look forward into this next semester, these are things that I really do want to
think about and grow in.
Looking forward to next year we have to figure out where our
staff will be. We have decided to start
the ministry at UT Arlington this fall and that means we have to shift people
at some of our other campuses. So
exciting!
We are headed into winter camp this next week. I am praying that this is a powerful weekend
for our students and really jump starts the second semester. Personally, I am
really excited to hear from our speaker this year Iain Provan. I will make sure
to tell you all about camp in my next post.
Please be in prayer as our students are coming back to
campus and the students are starting their ministry back. There is so much work to be done this
semester.
